Many problems associated with ill-fitting dentures are unfortunately perceived to be “normal” for false teeth. In reality, however, any overt problems with dentures are an indication that they should be adjusted or replaced. First and foremost, dentures should be comfortable and at no point should dentures come loose unexpectedly. Small amounts of adhesive may be needed for a more reliable hold, but if you find your dentures continually pulling away from your gums, they are most likely a poor fit. Due to loose dentures, people can experience soreness in their mouth, problems eating and speaking, not to mention the embarrassment of teeth moving around unnaturally.

So what are your options?

  1. Reline Current Dentures
Over time the shape of your gums and the bones that support your dentures can change, which means they may no longer fit properly. Relining is a method of adjusting the internal surface of the dentures. This technique doesn’t alter the appearance of the dentures, it simply adapts the base to suit the changing shape of your gums. The procedure is very straight forward and relatively inexpensive.
A set of impressions of your teeth and denture are taken by your dentist and then your denture is sent to the laboratory to be relined, for normally no more than a few day.
  2. Make New Dentures
Sometimes well-worn dentures can be beyond repair so in just a few simple appointments, we can make you a complete set of new dentures, you can even choose your teeth shape, length and shade. Every set of dentures are bespoke and as individual as you are.
  3. Retain Dentures with Dental Implants
Say goodbye to denture adhesives, sore spots and embarrassing moments with implant retained dentures that have a bite comparable to natural teeth. Dental implants will hold your dentures firmly in place. Dental implants are small titanium screws that act as a substitute for the root portions of your missing teeth, the dentures have small stud caps fitted into the base which clip onto the implants placed in the jaw. This makes implant dentures a more natural part of you, with a more secure fit, you can talk, eat and laugh freely without having to worry about what your dentures are doing.

Advantages of implant retained dentures include:

    * A stable and secure fit of your dentures to your gums
    * Less denture base covering the roof of your mouth
    * Improved taste and speech with less denture base
    * A bite comparable to your own natural teeth
    * Restored chewing ability with greater enjoyment of food
